Our Big 3 Roundup

Lest one think that I just write about ideas and don't do any, just wanted to share a few Flickr pictures from this week...our Halloween, All Saints and All Souls day adventures.

On All Souls Day we went to a cemetery to earn the plenary indulgence. But since the indulgence can be applied until November 8, we went yesterday to visit my grandmother's grave -- our family, two of my sisters and their children, my mother and my aunt. Grandma died last November, so the memory was fresh in our minds. I mentioned in this post about trying to do some grave rubbings. I brought along paper and crayons (next time I'm packing the gardening kneeling pads, too, as the ground was wet). The children really enjoyed trying to trace over Grandma's headstone, trying to capture words and the roses around the border. The letters on her stone are raised, making it a bit easier for the rubbings.

I think we all really enjoyed the experience, because it was so tactile, working some of the other senses, so that we really could remember Grandma and her gravesite. I hope to try some of my husband's family tombstones with the interfacing idea, now that I've gotten the hang of this.

And some other blog entries I wanted to include about these days that you shouldn't miss. I'm behind on my blog reading, but have so much fun reading and seeing the wonderful pictures of family doings for fall, Halloween, All Saints and All Souls.

The Journey of a Mother's Heart: Oh, When the Saints... Fabulous party, especially for last minute!

Cay's Cajun Cottage Under the Oaks has two lovely entries: Remembering the Communion of Saints and Who Are We?. Gorgeous costumes, Cay.

And some FABULOUS faux stained glass artwork at Blessed Among Men: All Saints and the cutest costumes Our Litany.

I love the photo of you with your son - he is such a handsome little boy (with the most adorable blue eyes!).

Thanks, Jennifer. I have to swallow my pride when I post pictures of myself...little weight gain, not wearing contacts, age creeping up on me...female insecurity. But I'm usually behind the camera anyway!

Oh, Jenn, I'm finally catching up on some blog-reading and just found this. Thank you so much for the link to our party. That was so kind.

I loved your photos---your little guy is gorgeous! He must be about the same age as mine. They're growing up way too fast, aren't they?
