Trapp Family Blog

Lissa had this wonderful idea to put forth the book by Maria Von Trapp, Around the Year with the Trapp Family in small digestable chunks, applicable to the liturgical seasons or feasts of the time. It's a great idea, and she did all the hard part by setting up the blog and such, but she didn't the time to follow-through with daily posts...soooo, I'm going to help out and run the Von Trapp Blog.

I will be slowly adding the text, and I want to add the images so that you can read the musical notation and see the craft ideas. I also plan on giving a few excerpts from some of Maria Trapp's other books when applicable.

I just started today for the feast of the Guardian Angels.

Please visit often, and share your faith-filled customs in the comments section.

Jenn, I am beyond thrilled that you are doing this blog! I read that book a couple of times a year (library copy) and was just feeling the need to read again ... instead I will stop by your blog! :)

This is a great idea, Jenn! I've always wanted to read her book, and now I will be able to, along with others comments and ideas. Thanks.

This is one of my favorite books! I bought a copy off of ebay several years ago and was surprised when it arrived with a photo of the family glued to the inside, Maria's signature and a few odds and ends from the inn in Stowe, Vemont. I try to read it at least once a year.

Besides Cooking for Christ, this is one of my other favorite books. Actually, I love all of Mrs. Trapp's books. I know the controversy that she might have had a ghost writer, very overbearing to her children, but still to have examples of living the faith in the Catholic family with the Austrian traditions, is just lovely to read. It might be a little idealistic at times, A Trapp Family Christmas by Heath for example, but still inspiring!
